Matthew M. Brandeburg

Matthew has been a member of The Sestina Network of Fee-Only Financial Planning Professionals since 2004. He is an active participant in the Financial Planning Association of Central Ohio and has been published in The Journal of Financial Planning, Investment Advisor Magazine and Careers in Focus: Financial Services. Matthew graduated Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State University, where he received a bachelor's degree in Finance. When asked why he decided to become a financial planner, he responds, "I practice financial planning in order to help my clients build a secure future, protect their children, and accumulate wealth that allows dreams to be realized."

Carl B. Buckner, MBA

Carl joined John E. Sestina and Company in 2001, and made financial planning his second career after retiring from the corporate world. His interest in helping others attain their financial objectives began when he worked as a tax preparer. During that time, he saw many instances when, with the proper planning, individuals could have reduced their taxes significantly. That experience sparked his interest in financial planning and he has found the profession to be even more rewarding that he originally anticipated. In addition to earning an MBA from the University of Chicago, Carl has undergraduate degrees in mathematics-physics and electrical engineering. Currently, and he serves on the Board of the Financial Planning Association of Central Ohio. Carl lives in Dublin with his wife, Connie. They have two adult children, a daughter in Columbus and a son in Denver.


Mark S. Coffey JD, CLU, CFP

Mark's educational background as an attorney and 17 years of professional experience as a financial planner assist him in working with clients ranging from those just beginning their professional careers to complex multi-generational planning clients. He has been associated with John E. Sestina and Company since 1999 and is the former President of the Columbus Estate Planning Council. He is very active in the charitable giving community, serving on the Board of Trustees for the Columbus Jewish Foundation as the Assistant Treasurer. Mark lives in Bexley, OH with his wife Mindy and two children Oliver and Carlin, and enjoys spending time with his family and playing tennis.


Tyler Cook

Tyler has been a member of the Sestina Network of Fee-Only Financial Planning Professionals since 2005. he is a graduate of The Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business where he received a Bachelor's degree in Finance. He continues to build his client base while studying to obtain the Certified Financial Planner professional designation (CFP). Tyler realized his enthusiasm for Financial Planning while interning with John E. Sestina & Company during college. Today, Tyler's passion for the profession is evident. When asked why he decided to become a financial planner, Tyler replies "I enjoy leading clients on their path to financial independence. Every client is unique, and there is nothing more satisfying than helping a client reach his or her goals."


Rick Epple, CFP, NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor

Rick is the founder and President of Epple Financial Advisors, a comprehensive fee-only financial planning firm headquartered in the Twin Cities (Minnesota). The firm provides fee-only financial planning and advice to individuals and families. Rick joined The Sestina Network of Fee-Only Financial Planning Professionals in early 2005 to help him provide a better service to his clients. Rick is a leader in the Minnesota Financial Planning community with his roles as Director of Career Development, Financial Planning Association of Minnesota and Coordinator of the Minnesota NAPFA Study Group. His opinion has been sought out by media members to assist with their columns and he has contributed to articles in the Washington Post, Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine, Fortune Magazine, Parent's Magazine, and Money Magazine. Corey R. Jansen
CFA, MBA

Corey is originally from Portland, OR and came to Columbus in 2000 to attain his Masters in Business Administration from The Ohio State University. Prior to joining John E. Sestina and Company in 2005, Corey worked as a Stock Analyst for a large banking firm, but made the transition to financial planning because he wanted to help families achieve their financial goals. Along with having a Chartered Financial Analyst designation, Corey is also an active member of the Columbus Society of Financial Analysts. His other interests include golf, snowboarding, football, camping, and reading


Stephen A. Lukan CFP

Stephen has been a member of The Sestina Network of Fee-Only Financial Planning Professionals since 2002. He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in 1994, with a degree in Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Management. Stephen's goalsare to build his knowledge and practice daily for the benefit of his clients. He enjoys fee-only financial planning because it allows him to help people reach their goals. John T. McCarthy

John McCarthy has been part of The Sestina Network of Fee-Only Financial Planning Professionalssince 1992. He has offices in Columbus, Ohio and Spokane, Washington.He is married with three children and resides in Spokane. The guiding principle of John's practiceis to provide quality, consistent, and objective financial planning services for individuals and families helping them realize their financial dreams.


Kim E. Wirtz CFP

Kim joined The Sestina Network of Fee-Only Financial Planning Professionals in 2004 and works from her office in Strongsville, OH. She received her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Furman University and is a recent graduate of the Certified Financial PlannerTM professional study program. She is also an active member of the Financial Planning Association. In her spare time, Kim coaches softball, plays golf and volleyball, and is busy being mother to her three children, ages 9, 11 and 13
